What’s The Difference Between The Classical Guitar and Acoustic Guitar?

We get this question a lot. The difference between the classical guitar and acoustic guitar is the way the the guitar is being played. While playing acoustic/folk guitar focuses a lot of strumming and chords, playing the classical guitar means you’ll focus a lot of fingering and plucking.

Because of the frequent plucking on classical guitar playing, classical guitars usually have larger fingerboards. Unlike folk guitars which usually have steel strings on them, the classical guitar have three nylon strings and three steel strings.

Played WIth A Different Style

Learning to play the classical guitar does not necessarily mean you’ll be only limited to playing classical music. There are many pop songs which utilizes the classical guitar sound which you can play to.

Besides, learning to pluck on a classical guitar gives you more control on the guitar, which means it’ll be easier and faster for you to learn the acoustic guitar when you decide to pick one up.
