Melody will bring music to autistic kids, devising therapies that will help the kids build up their abilities to recognize emotions and advance their success in social settings. In other words – they’re giving kids who struggle to fit in another chance. It’s not a cure on the autism itself, but it’s filling in the gaps.
Considering how music cures and helps people from different places, backgrounds, age, size , intelligence; this should be taken to a thought. Everyone is born with a rhythm sense in themselves. Ever seen a baby shaking and dancing to the sound of a radio or television? Go to the clubs and see people moving their body around to the music? Been to a restaurant dinner, and find it strange or not so pleasant, when there is no music played in the background?
Well that’s the power of music. It’s so much in each and everyone of us. People just do not realize it, and they neglect the importance of music & dance. Some techniques of learning music, also involves movements, which makes dance comes into play. Everyone benefits from music, and that matter should not be kept away from autism and special children.
Zhi Yang, an Autistic student at The Cat Studio, The Music School in Penang
who has improved Tremendously and passed his Grade 1..
I’m proud to say, The Cat Studio, the music school in Penang, are accepting mild autism students for intake in our music school. We are also proud to confirm, we have successfully helped some autistic children and even a few children with down syndrome. Some of our students who are with autism are enrolled in courses like the Violin course, Piano Course & Ballet Course. But this does not mean, that they have to restrict themselves to those courses, with proper analysis and care, the autistic childrens can also be exposed to other music & dance classes as well.
In conclusion, if you have a child who is autistic, do not hesitate no more. Introduce him or her to music & dance, and watch how they improve, as they become more matured, braver, and show less signs of being autistic!
1. I have an 16th year old autistic son, what will be the best music course for him?
2. What are the fees like?
3. Do we need to prepare the instruments ourselves?
Please advice.
thanks.
