What date is today? 5th February 2010. Great! Realized that all of us are living in an increasing ‘wired’ world?
With computers being so active today, cell phones, portable games, even your iphone. We’re so ‘wired’ nowadays, and it seems there’s no way we can live without these gadgets.
What I am going to share here, are for the young generations, who need to be constantly guided. And take my word, these tips are essential for their success in life, where solutions are not just a click away!
One of the biggest threats today! The TV. The television is a child’s introduction to technology. TV are said to be good info, depending on what shows and movies you watch. However, it affects the Mental of our young children. Health experts believe that premature plus excessive exposure to the TV can foster disinterest in physical exercise, confusion between reality and fantasy, emotional problem, and later in the classrooms, inattentiveness. This is a serious problem, if you are leaving your child in front the TV when you go for work, etc.
What about today’s internet? Internet is good knowledge, but if you detect your child becoming abnormally focused on the computer, day and day? Some parents might not know this, but me being a person working in an environment filled with children and young people, I know some of the famous things a child would do on the internet. I believe some of the most popular things to do online now, are “Facebook”, “Plurk”, “Twitter”, and so many more, before coming down to online games which enable players to connect to other players throughout the entire world. Mind me, we’ve seen games so addictive to the child where one could play for a day without putting their eyes of the computer screen!
(Side note : Internet games can be so dangerous. Why? It’s proved that people can make money playing online games. Some earns by the thousands by only playing games and trading virtual items. It’s that ADDICTIVE, beware! )
So with those media crashes coming down to us. Why not introduce your children to an interesting craft or musical instrument. Not necessary music instrument, but anything wholesome, that may be different which gives good absorbing and at the same time stimulating. Take playing music as a fun activity where they also learn positive things. Some which will include Development, Patience, Tenacity, Self-Control & Creativity!
Children at that young age, need ‘wisdom’ and good thinking ability. They have to learn to distinguish between Right or Wrong. And music playing does that. Learning the power of reason, distinguishing if they stroked a wrong music note or key. These activities train them, invisibly.
It’s not Illegal to spend hours playing, watching TV or surfing the net, or perhaps glued to the portable games that parents probably would buy for the child. It’s never wrong to do that and we never said dont do it. But think about it, is it WISE? Spending your time on those? or would you rather pick up a healthy dance or beneficial music course?
It’s loving your children, and taking care of them, to see them grow up to be someone useful.
