Searching for voice overs in Malaysia? Finding a few but don’t know which to decide?
Most of us are looking for a good voice over, where we can work together with. And then after that, affordability comes into play too. It’s straightforward, we all need something good, not too expensive and not too cheap. Is there a recording studio that verifies that?
So the big question here for voice overs and talents are actually, how affordable is affordable as acclaimed by many recording studios?
How do the many recording studios in Malaysia and the rest of the world charge actually? Voice overs are either voiced or sung by the many vocal talents we have around us. Here’s some examples of how people charge for voice over services.
Pay by Minute
This is probably the standard way many people would charge. A block charge on the first 3 mins and every extra minute a different charge.
For example, your project is 5 mins? 3mins + 1min + 1min= $450 + $90 + $90 (Total for a 5 minutes voiceover work, RM630!)
And we haven’t included the recording session, editing and mixing fees yet… Probably go up a few hundreds more? What happens if you need to change just a sentence in there??? Truly a hard way to be charged, ain’t?
Pay by Page
It’s probably only us, but we loathe people who charge like this. Here’s how they charge. $400 per page?
Well how would they count for exact? An A4 sized paper? or a notebook size page? It’s ridiculous and lots of trouble are bound to appear and we are sure many people do not want that. Projects are meant to be quick and settled at soonest attention. It’s silly to have your project stalled just because of some nutcase who wouldn’t compromise.
Pay based on project?
You’ll come to some recording studios or some voice talents who will ask you where your project is going. Going to be aired on TV, and listened by thousands and millions of people? Then, the charge shall increase too. Increase if not a lot, massively! We know some people who charge at least MYR2000 for a single voice advertisement on the radios.
It depends a lot in fact. There are actually voice talents charge sheets, which are to be followed by people who do voice narrations and such. But it is also a paid job, and most of the time, we ought to give our service; not being poky, and look to our customer’s project. Agree?
Most Practical Approach – Voice overs & narrations in Penang, Malaysia
Obviously the best solution to this, is to take a package deal from a recording studio. Why package? It saves you the cold sweat you’ll be dripping. Imagine taking a pay per minute deal, and then sweating bullets during the recording session, hoping the voice talent could cramp all his voice overs in a 3 minute. Not a good way, you might end up destroying your whole project.
What about arranging for a package deal? Tell the recording engineer and producers, your project, your budget, what you need and have them to estimate for you. Coming out with a package price at your comfort budget, then work it out together. Let’s forget the pay per minute and everything, the main aim is just to finish that work together. How’s that sound? More peace of mind?
What happens if you found a mistake a day after we complete the voice narration? No problem, just let us know, and we’ll correct it for you, with no extra charge!
